KMT Chairman Eric Chu (朱立倫) on February 25 stated during the KMT’s weekly Central Standing Committee that since the party’s disciplinary procedures had been amended in line with a recent court ruling, it was unnecessary for the KMT to pursue further the lawsuit filed by Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng (王金平).

On March 26, the Supreme Court ruled that Eric Chu, as new KMT chairman, should officially retain an attorney to represent him within 10 days with regard to the pending appeal in Wang’s lawsuit. If the KMT failed to do so, the Supreme Court would reject the appeal for failing in completing legal procedures, which would mean that the KMT lost the appeal, hence the lawsuit. KMT spokesperson Yang Wei-chung (楊偉中) stated that KMT had decided not to pursue the lawsuit filed by Wang, adding that this case had thus come to an end as far as the KMT was concerned.
